Pols also banned during Strawberry fest parades

TAKING cue from the Philippine Military Academy, members of the executive committee of the Strawberry Festival has banned politician­s gunning for national posts to join in their twin parades.

"So that our program will not be disturbed, I suggest that even politician­s from national should not be entertaine­d,” said Vice Mayor Joey Marrero.

This was also backed by Associatio­n of Barangay Captains president and Councilor Charles Canuto.

"It is our activity,” he stressed.

Although, there is no formal resolution yet, Mayor Romeo Salda said he and the muncicapl council is one in banning politician­s to campaign during the festival’s parade and programs.

The municipali­ty, however will welcome them as guests or visitors.

The council added politician­s can resume campaign after the festival highlights or programs so as not to disturb and not to draw attention during the parade.

Highlights for the Strawberry Festival is the civic parade scheduled March 18 and the street dancing and float parade on March 23.

Strawberry festival was originally celebrated as a town fiesta before becoming the strawberry festival.

Among the possible guest speakers for the month long celebratio­n includes President Rodrigo Duterte, Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte, and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
