DILG turn overs P8M evacuation center in Itogon

THE EVACUATION facility located in Keystone, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet funded under the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-CAR) under the Local Government Support Fund - Assistance to Municipalities (LGSFAM) program was turned over to Itogon on March 21.

Initially, the project was funded under the 2017 Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) program with an amount of P5,623,000 and was completed on February 13 through the 2018 AM with an additional funding of P2,900,000.

The facility used to serve as the processing center of recovered remains after the onslaught of typhoon Ompong in September 2018 which hit the municipality. Mayor Victorio Palangdan expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided and is looking forward to more collaboration with the DILG that would benefit their constituents.

Aside from Palangdan, the turnover was also witnessed by Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) Ceasar Ating, Cheryl Rose Cardenas, DILG Benguet Provincial Director Rufina Fegcan and the Regional Program Management Team (RPCT) of the AM Program.

Fegcan meanwhile said full support will be provided for future partnerships on projects and programs for the community.

Through the DILG LGSF-AM Program, municipalities are able to access government support funds in implementing, as well as subsidize projects identified in their Local Development Investment Plans (LDIP).

Local government units however, must be compliant with the requirements of the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping, Local Development Council Functionality and Public Financial Management System as requirement for fund access and allocation.
