The engineer added coordination with the central office to fast track funding of the bridge deck is now being done.

Mendoza said they are also requesting the presence of police officers for vehicular traffic assistance in the monitoring of vehicles to not exceed the carrying capacity.

Board Member Florencio Bentres suggested to put signages which incorporate the number of tons allowed and include what type of vehicles are allowed to traverse the bridge.

Previously, DPWH informed the local government La Trinidad the bridge has shown signs of weakening with transverse cracks and scouring on the concrete deck.

DPWH then installed a steel plate placed to cover the hole near the end of the bridge and announced to pre-empt any untoward incident, advise motorists to pass with caution with trucks, buses and other vehicles weighing more than five tons are diverted to ShilanBeckel Road.

The bridge connects La Trinidad and Baguio City to neighboring towns of Benguet and provinces in the Cordillera region.
