AT LEAST 942 cadets and staff of the Philippine Military Academy registered during an offsite registration last week.

Lawyer John Paul Martin, Baguio City Commission On Elections (COMELEC) Supervisor welcomed the big number of registrants during the satellite listing.

“The August 1 to September 30 scheduled registration period for the May 2020 Barangay and SK Elections is part of our preparations for the electoral exercise. Aside from the AFP and PNP, all those who will register this registration period will still be approved as voters even if this 2020 Elections will not pursue since they will be approved as voters for the next Presidential elections in 2022,” Martin said.

Comelec earlier conducted a series of information dissemination not only through the social media but in all traditional forms of mainstream media locally and nationwide in a bid to attract more voters.

Martin meanwhile reminded the public registration will continue until September 30.

“Aside from bringing with them their identification documents particularly those wanting to do some corrections in entries, they would have to bring their birth or marriage certificates depending on what entries they would want to be corrected while for first time voters. What we only need are the proof of their age upon registration and other pertinent identification documents,” Martin added.

Meanwhile, PMA Spokesperson Major Raynan Afan said about 900 of their cadets and staff have either transferred their precinct assignments to Fort Del Pilar or registered as new voters.

“Many of our personnel are already registered in Baguio City. We have almost 2000 personnel and we have encouraged their dependents and their family members to participate in the said process,” Afan added.

Comelec Baguio recently conducted an off-site registration for members of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) aside from other off-site registration in various areas in Baguio City.
