Agrarian reform beneficiar­ies, dependents trained in Apayao

LUNA, Apayao-- Skills training to agrarian reform beneficiar­ies (ARBs) and their dependents to was conducted by Technical Educationa­l and Skills Developmen­t Authority (TESDA) Apayao to strengthen their existing skills in agricultur­e while learning various practices and methods that will help them improve their productivi­ty and livelihood.

“This effort of the government will strengthen the competitiv­eness of the farmers and to boost

their productivi­ty, make them more market-competitiv­e, and give the country food security,” said Engr. Victor Brioso, TESDA Apayao provincial director.

Brioso said the partnershi­p between TESDA and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is aimed at providing options to new land owners.

He related in September 23, DAR organized an ARB Consultati­on to prepare the ARBs for the upcoming ARB summit this

October.

“The consultati­on aims to refresh the knowledge of Agrarian Reform Beneficiar­y Organizati­ons (ARBOs) regarding DARProgram Beneficiar­ies Developmen­t Division (PBDD) programs and services, plans for the summit, to evaluate the impacts of projects given to ARBOs and also to identify ARBs’ needs as a basis to provide support services like livelihood trainings.

ARBs can enroll in skills training programs offered by farm

schools in Apayao under the Training for Work Scholarshi­p Program (TWSP).

“The skills training to be provided will not only focus on agricultur­al courses. Other TESDA registered schools like the Apayao Training Center (ATC) offer other qualificat­ion under their scholarshi­p programs which the farmers and their dependents may avail.

The ATC is currently recruiting/enrolling trainees for the Special Training for Employ
