Pacda ES athletes join Mankayan delegates in 2019 provincial meet

- Carolyn Tufay

BEFORE a higher competition is held, there is always an elimination round before it.

Pacda Elementary School held its school intramurals on Aug. 23, 2019 to select athletes among its 55 populaces to represent the school during the zone meet. The school intramurals were participated by all the pupils from kindergarten to grade six and were divided into two units.

Despite the limited number of pupils to select on, teachers were able to identify, select and train qualified athletes to represent the school in some selected events, mostly individual games during the zone meet.

On Sept. 12, selected pupils of Pacda Elementary School attended the zone meet at Guinaoang Elementary School. There were 20 athletes accompanied by three permanent teachers as coaches. There were two male and two female athletes for badminton girls and boys, singles bracket A and B. Four chess players, two girls and two boys were coached by Carolyn Tufay. Two players for table tennis, singles boys and girls, both bracket A were coached by Ofelia Pasadillo. Six male players for field events and four male players for running events were coached by Jovelyn Cayapa.

It was indeed a good play because there were three pupils who made their best and were qualified to participate in the district athletic meet although coaching was taken by the winning coaches from other school. Rhenzel Atinyao, table tennis boys, singles, Darryl Ann Dayao, table tennis girls, singles coached by Analyn Frias of Ulsino Elementary School and Ofelia Malucay of Guinaoang Elementary School. Gylerwayne Jheff Ganipac and the other athletes from other schools qualified for throwing events was coached by Jovelyn Cayapa.

District athletic meet was held at Mankayan Central School on September 20-21, 2019. The three athletes from Pacda Elementary School continued to be winners in their own events that qualified them to be with the Mankayan Delegates for the provincial meet at Wangal in La Trinidad, Benguet on Dec. 9 to 13, 2019.

Pacda Elementary School in its second year as complete elementary is indeed proud to produce athletes for higher competition for the first time this school year 2019 to 2020. Behind this success is the dedicated teachers/ trainers and coaches and the eversupportive parents of Pacda Elementary School headed by the school head Danio Camodag.
