Tips on remaining healthy and safe during Covid-19 pandemic

- Aung La N Sang Christian Lee

THE COVID-19 global situation has halted normal life for people all around the world. Nearly half a million individuals have been infected, and the potential for serious – and even fatal – consequences continue to loom.

Like everyone else, ONE Championship’s martial arts heroes are feeling the brunt of this pandemic. However, they are urging fans to do their best to stay safe in order to maintain their own health and minimize the spread.

Hear what some of the promotion’s top athletes have to say about the coronavirus outbreak and their advice to people in this ongoing battle.

“Make sure your personal hygiene is good. Wash your hands and take care of your body, and make sure you eat healthy while you’re in quarantine so that your body is getting good nutrients. Also, get lots of sleep and stay hydrated.”

“I would encourage everyone to not take this thing lightly because the studies show that younger age groups are the least likely to die from this virus, but we can all be carriers. You might not even know that you have the disease, but you can go home and pass it to your mom, your grandma, or your grandpa, and their chances are not as favorable.

“Treat it as if it is the worst possible case and stay indoors as much as you can. If you don’t need to go out, then don’t go out. There is no need to go out other than buying groceries and bringing them back home. Until this

whole thing blows over, it’s best to just stay within your homes and try to wait it out.”

“I care about you guys. Please take care of yourself very well by wearing a mask and carrying [sanitizing] hand gel with you all the time. To whoever already has Covid-19, get well soon. In our Petchyindee camp, we check the body temperature of all the athletes every day.”

“Every year on my birthday (20 March), I invite my friends and people to come over for a party. This year, we only stayed home and celebrated with close family members in our place. My camp has to be closed to make everyone stay safe. I don’t go out that much normally, so it isn’t difficult for me. I hope this situation will pass soon with all of our participation.” Stamp Fairtex

“At Fairtex camp, we check the body temperature of the athletes and everyone wears a mask. We run and exercise in the camp, not outside like before. Anyone who went to the risky places or has symptoms is not allowed to come to the gym. We also closed and stopped all the fitness workouts and classes.

“For me, I always have hand gel and wear a mask. Most of the time, I stay in my room and find something to do to kill time. I told my parents and family to do the same. Stay safe and take care. I wish for you guys to stay healthy and encourage everyone. We will fight and pass this situation together.” Roshnee Khaira

“The best way to prevent the illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus, as it’s transmitted via respiratory droplets and may stay in the air for eight hours. Protect yourself at all times with social distancing, by wearing masks, and frequent hand washing with soap for at least 20 seconds, or by using hand sanitizer.

“Remember to also clean and disinfect frequently touched areas such as doorknobs, handles, keyboards, and phones, as the virus may remain on the surfaces for two-tothree hours. Always practice preventive actions on a daily basis to help reduce your risk of getting sick and remind everyone in your home to do the same. These actions are especially important for older adults or anyone with low immunity.”

“Right now, I connect with my friends in China a lot and they are in a tough situation, and I am really touched by it. You have to be responsible for society. If you stay home, you have a low chance of spreading the virus. You still need to go out, but we have to stay safe and quickly come back. That’s important. That’s all we can do to stop spreading it.

“My parents are a bit worried, too, but I tell them to stay home. They are old and all they can do is be defensive, but for me, I have to be even more aware if I go home. I am young and strong. I am an athlete. I might have the virus and be okay, but I can still spread that to anyone, even my parents, so I think the best way is to stay safe, stay at home, and just try to minimize the contact with people.

“In my condo, the gym is closed and the pool is closed, but I know some people who think they can stay in the lobby or work out with friends. I always say to everyone that your liquid from your body can stay there, and the virus can stay there for hours. The more you stay in your room, the better.”
