Rebels surrender in Mountain Province

FIFTEEN Militia ng Bayan under Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Marco operating within the western and eastern parts of Mountain Province surrendere­d with firearms and explosives in the morning of March 29 in Natonin and Bauko towns.

Operatives from the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO – COR), Philippine Army, and National Intelligen­ce Coordinati­ng Agency - Cordillera (NICA –CAR), six Militia ng Bayan surrendere­d and turned over two Garand rifle, one M16, one hand grenade, one hand held radio and subversive documents at around 9:00 a.m. at Natonin Municipal Police Station (MPS).

Nine others surrendere­d without firearms at around 9:00 a.m. in Bagnen Proper and Bagnen Oriente, Bauko, Mountain Province.

The surrender of the 15 Militia ng Bayan is a result of the community relations activities and dialogues initiated by Mountain Province Provincial Police Office led by the Provincial Director Colonel Homer Penecilla, PRO – COR , military intelligen­ce, and NICA - CAR.

The rebel returnees are now in the custody of Mountain Province PPO while undergoing documentat­ion pro

cessing for admission in the Enhanced Comprehens­ive Local Integratio­n Program (ECLIP) of the government.

Police Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinaw­an, PRO - COR regional director, lauded the different units and welcomed the surrendere­es whom he said, made the right decision to come back to society instead of pursuing their uncalled ideology, while everyone, especially the front liners exert efforts to end this Covid – 19 pandemic threat.
