Bontoc urge telcos to improve service

- Bontoc LGU release

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Mayor Franklin Odsey reiterated his call to Smart Communications and Globe Telecom to improve their services in this capital town.

This is due to the constant and growing clamor of the people for the two network providers to upgrade their systems because of slow internet speed, unstable network signal especially now that face-to-face transactions are discouraged due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), and very slow response to calls for technical assistance.

Bontoc is where most transactions take place and the largest number of network users in the province considering it is the seat of the municipal and provincial governments, national government agency provincial offices; and the center of commerce, trade, and education.

With the pandemic, face-to-face transactions are discouraged and limited to prevent and avoid the spread of Covid-19.

Due to this situation, many business and government transactions depend on the internet. The government has adopted online meetings and seminars to ensure that services to the public are delivered, and issues and concerns are resolved. Even the Department of Education has included online enrolment for students and is proposing online classes in the coming school year. Everyone and every institution are now dependent to the internet more than ever.

With this, the mayor urged the two network providers to provide

the long-overdue upgrade to their infrastructure, put-up additional towers aside from the existing ones, and build towers in barangays where there is no network signal.

“This is a win-win solution to the service providers and the customers as more users will avail of the services if they are satisfied,” the mayor remarked.
