HPG, LTO to unify online vehicle data
THE HIGHWAY Patrol Group in the Cordillera Administrative Region ( HPG- CAR) is converging data collection systems with the Land Transportation Office ( LTO - CAR) for a more efficient processing.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Joe Wilson Denamorca, HPG – CAR chief explained the motor vehicle clearance system will soon be available online.
“The common interaction happening with the highway patrol is motor vehicle clearance and at this point starting how many months ago, the national headquarters developed a software for a licensed driver to apply for clearance. The only thing that has to be done is to bring the actual vehicle to the HPG for inspection,” Denamorca said.
LTO – CAR started digitalization since the start of this year with its driver’s license processes, motor vehicle registration, law enforcement and traffic adjudication system and revenue collection system which will soon be part of an e – governance system with data collected by the HPG incorporated with the LTO nationwide, Denamorca said once digitally incorporated, HPG will only issue ticket violations.
“Payment is done
with the local government unit or the LTO,” added Denamorca.
In preparation for the national identification system by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), HPG will soon incorporate data with PSA while traffic violations will be between the LTO and LGU’s.
“When it comes to the roads, we are the implementer of various measures by other agencies and once we would have a unified system of national identification, we will just implement whatever system they will be laying down. What I am seeing is once this national identification system would be put in place, we would only need a scanner to know the violation of a driver but this will start with baby steps,” Denomarca added.
