RA 9155, sec. 2 states: It is hereby declared the policy of the State to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality basic education and to make such education accessible to all by providing all Filipino children free and compulsory education in the elementary level and free education in the high school level.

With the scheduled opening of classes in public schools on October 5, Magsaysay National High School’s application for its Senior High School was finally approved, offering Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand to incoming Grade 11 students.

This is very meaningful as the school aims to accommodate more students not only in the Junior High but also in the Senior High School. Students who were not able to enroll in other schools due to the distance of the school and their residence are very much welcome.

Students are given the chance to enroll in the school nearest to their residence. This is very important since this pandemic requires minors to stay home, therefore parents will be the ones to go to the schools or to the designated drop-off areas to claim the learners’ modules. That is why it is more advantageous to enroll in a school near a learners’ residence.

Many of the enrollees at MNHS are from New Lucban where the school is located. Some learners are from its neighboring feeder barangays such as Sto. Niño–Slaughter, ABCR, T. Alonzo, P. Burgos, Honeymoon–Holy Ghost area, Quirino Hill, A. Tabora, Trancoville, Ambiong- Baguio, and the bulk of learners come from parts of La Trinidad, Benguet.

Republic Act No. 9865 converted and named Pines City National High School– Magsaysay Annex into Magsaysay National High School after 21 years of fruitful existence. MNHS was a joint venture of the late couple Dr. Philip Flores, then the Principal of PCNHS, and Nelda Flores, then Barangay Captain of New Lucban.

As of this writing, there are already 973 enrolled learners from Grade 7 to Grade 11 at MNHS. It is with high hopes that the school will be able to accommodate more students, especially in the Senior High School since it is one of the melting points in the City of Baguio.
