Caretaker vows promotion of tourism

LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET- A Benguet official is pushing to promote the tourism destinatio­ns in the province.

Kevin See, chief of staff of the Office of Benguet caretaker Eric Go Yap said the recent visit of Miss

Universe Philippine­s candidates is an opportunit­y to promote the province.

See added all health protocols are practiced all throughout and each candidate and staff were tested and isolated before going to the different areas in Benguet.

“Later on kapag nag - open up naman ang tourism, gusto natin ipakita sa kanila, noong time na nagkaroon ng pandemic, nagco- exist and tourism and safety protocol. Kapag inopen up ang tourism, we want to make sure na we are ready and mas malakas na tayo,” See told reporters on Friday.

“Sabi niya it’s about time Benguet, ibalik ang Benguet sa mapa kasi kapag narirignig nila ang Baguio and akala nila iyon ang Benguet, it’s not, Baguio is Baguio in its own right, Benguet maganda rin in its own right, so iyon ang intention niya,” added See.

He added the winner of the Miss Universe Philippine­s pageant will be toured by Yap at the different tourist destinatio­ns of Benguet.

See said there will also be billboards across the country along the expressway­s to promote the province.

He stated the legislator is also planning to hire tourism ambassadre­ss to promote the province.

Before the coronation night on October 25 in Baguio City, Miss Universe Philippine­s candidates will visit different areas in Benguet.

On October 15, the first batch of candidates with their entourage underwent the triage at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in Barangay Wangal, La Trinidad.

The candidates did a photoshoot at Benguet State University strawberry farm and Mount Costa both located in La Trinidad.

On Friday, another batch of Miss Universe Philippine­s candidates visited Itogon for another photo shoot. The candidates underwent triage on the site before going to the Benguet capitol in La Trinidad, Benguet and Benguet State University.
