ALTHOUGH airline operations remain normal, Cebu Pacific Airlines, Philippine Airlines (PAL), and AirAsia issued advisories allowing their passengers with flights to and from Mindanao within specified schedules to rebook their flights for free.

With the recent declaration of martial law in Mindanao by President Rodrigo Duterte, the three Philippine-based airlines advised the passengers travelling to and from the island to allot sufficient travel to the airport given the tighter security measures being currently implemented.

In an official statement, Cebu Pacific Airlines said their passengers going to and from Mindanao with flight schedules that fall from May 25 to 31, 2017 are given the choice to rebook their tickets for free within 30 days.

“Guests flying to and from any Cebu Pacific or Cebgo destination in Mindanao from May 25 to 31, 2017 who are concerned about travelling at this time may opt to rebook their tickets for free within 30 days; or place the cost of the ticket in a travel fund for future use,” read the airline’s statement.

Cebu Pacific can be reached through their hotline at (02) 702-0888 or message them through their official Cebu Pacific Facebook page.

For PAL passengers with booking dates that fall within May 24-July 30 to Mindanao may rebook their tickets without penalties within 90 days from original flight date or within ticket validity period. Passengers may also opt to reroute without penalties although additional fares and taxes may be assessed if necessary.

PAL will also allow refund for the tickets without penalties. For further questions, PAL can be reached through their hotline at (02) 855-8888.

Gadgets, as laptops, may also be requested to be taken out for inspection as well.

In a previous interview, City Tourism Operations Officer Head Generose Tecson had already stated that that the martial law in Mindanao may definitely affect arrivals in the city, however the main concern as of the moment is the safety of everyone. SunStar Philippines
