359 police recruits take oath at Alagar

- By Alwen Saliring

SOME 359 new police recruits in Northern Mindanao have taken their oath at Camp Vicente Garcia Alagar in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Friday, July 21 as the country rallies behind to fortify its defense against security threats.

The new police officers 1 (PO1) temporary status have sworn to serve the country as they are about to begin their stringent training to become effective members of the police force.

Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), said the new police recruits will only become permanent once they completed the year-long training.

"PO1 temporary status mao

ang item ihatag sa ila kay ayha ra sila mapermanent after one year,” Gonda said.

The police recruits will be made to undergo six months of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) training at the Regional Training Center (RTC) in brgy. Patag, this city, and another six months Field Training Program (FTP).

Gonda said during the FTP, the police recruits will be exposed to police investigation, intelligence, operations and traffic procedures, among others.

“Sa ilang 6 months nga training ipa-duty sila sa mga major cities kanang mga makita nato sa dalan nga gabaklay nga walay armas kay i-expose man nato na sila sa trabaho sa police,” Gonda said.

But, Gonda said these police recruits will already have their monthly salaries.

After the one year training, the recruits will undergo PNP scout at the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB).

Gonda explained that the PRO-10 has quota of 600 police recruits and more than a thousand individuals applied but only 328 have passed the several examinations.

The PRO-10 also accepted the realignment of 31 police recruits excess from Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9).

“Sa 359 ang nag-oath lang is 346 kay gihold pa ang 13 kay wala pay certificate of authentication and verification from CHED. Kaning 13 apil sa realignment from PRO-9,” Gonda said.

Gonda said the new police recruits will help sustain the police force as there are also police retirees every year.

Gonda reminds the new police recruits to love and uphold the mission of the organization.

“Lisod ang pagsulod sa pagka-police pero sayon ra ang paggawas kung maghimo og daotan kay diretso matanggal busa trabaho lang og serbisyo tinuod ang ilang buhaton,”Gonda said.

“Dako kini og tabang kay every year naa man pud ga-retire mao ni sila ang mo-fill sa problema sa kakulangon sa police when it comes to population ratio,”Gonda added.

The new police recruits will be turned over to the RTC on Monday, July 24, for the formal start of their training.
