Business sector supports Grab, Uber
BUSINESS groups in Cebu have expressed support for the ride-sharing services rendered by transportation network companies (TNCs) amid tension among Grab, Uber, and the Land Transporation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB).
“The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) supports increasing the business opportunities to the greater masses where one of these is the operationalization of the TNVS particularly the services of Uber and the Grab,” said CCCI president Melanie Ng.
Uber and Grab, according to CCCI have provided the riding public with better, clean, and swift services, plus well-mannered drivers.
“However, we do not support the unauthorized colorum drivers who may ply the streets and who do not have the necessary requirements to be part of the TNVS system or the entities which may have violated franchise agreements or have not complied with the requirements of the LTFRB,” added Ng.
It was on Wednesday when LTRFRB and the ridesharing companies have made a compromise when the former halted the apprehension of ride-sharing drivers.
LTFRB said it will instead wait for Grab and Uber to file for a motion for reconsideration, which would “legally suspend and extend the execution of LTFRB’s July 11 order,” said Senator JV Ejercito, vice chair of the Senate Committee on Public Services, in a statement.
Meanwhile, commitee chair Senator Grace Poe, was quoted in reports that the compromise would allow unregistered Grab and Uber cars to continue operating until the appeal is resolved.
