Gan wants to probe JOs at City Hospital

- By PJ Orias

City Councilor Leon Gan on Monday is pushing for an inquiry over what he calls ‘suspicious approval' of some 450 job order employees at the JR Borja General Hospital.

In a special report, Gan said he received a copy of a document from the mayor's office containing a preapproved list of the hired 450 job order employees at the City Hospital.

“I hope we conduct an inquiry on this because we need to be informed why we are hiring this big of a number na mga job order employees sa city hospital, ubay-ubay sad baya ni,” Gan said.

“We need to set aside doubts, especially us in the City Council, na gikan sa ato ang budget, we need to be enlightened kung asa padulong ning 450 job orders. We need to have an inquiry, anyway if they can prove or justify that there is basis in these number of job orders, there's no problem” he said.

But City Councilor Ma. Lourdes Gaane came to the defense of the City Hospital saying that it is only hiring what it needs, especially with the 200-300 patients daily.

Gaane also clarified that the 450 job order positions are existing employees of the City Hospital.

“These are not proposed, as far as i know, these are existing positions, nagtrabaho naman ni sila,” she said.

“JR Borja is a 100-bed capacity hospital, unya ang average patients daily is 200-300 patients, so kinahanglan gyud siya ug daghang workers, from doctors, nurses, midwives, hangtod sa admin work,” Gaane said.

“And this is a hospital, so this is a 24/7 facility,” Gaane added.

The city hospital is Level I hospital and is aiming to upgrade with the new Intensive Care Unit beds and the construction of additional buildings.
