‘Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino’ kicks-off Wednesday

FILIPINO films will take center stage in the muchantici­pated “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP)” opening this week.

Organized by the Film Developmen­t Council of the Philippine­s (FDCP), the festival aims to promote locally-produced movies during a one-week exclusive screening from August 16 to 22, 2017 in all cinemas nationwide.

The fiesta-themed celebratio­n covers several genres of promising curated movie choices for Filipino film enthusiast­s.

Included in the line-up are romantic film “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” starring JC Santos and Bella Padilla under the helm of Jason Paul Laxamana, “Paglipay (Crossing)” top billed by Garry Cabalic, Joan dela Cruz and Anna Luna directed by Zig Dulay, and “Pauwi Na (Pedicab)” by Paolo Villaluna with stars Jerald Napoles, Meryl Soriano, Cherry Pie Picache and seasoned actor Bembol Roco.

Also part of the festival are movies “Salvage” starring JC De Vera and Jessy Mendiola and directed by Sherad Sanchez, and “Star na si Van Damme Stallone” by Randolph Longjas with actors Paolo Pongil, Ebong Joson, Sara Brakensiek and comedienne Candy Pangilinan.

Albie Casino, Joseph Marco and Kean Cipriano will headline “Triptiko” directed by Miguel Michelena while Martin Del Rosario and Ryza Cenon star in “Ang Mananangga­l sa Unit 23B” by Prime Cruz.

Cipriano is also part of another entry entitled “Bar Boys” opposite Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino and Enzo Pineda. The said movie is under the helm of Prime Cruz.

Completing the list of full-length features included in the festival are “Awol” by Enzo Williams, “Hamog” by Ralston Jover, “Patay na si Hesus” by Victor Villanueva, and “Birdshot” by Mikhael Red.”
