Claim business plates, businesses told

Owners of establishm­ents here are being urged to claim their business plates at the Business Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD) or face penalties.

BPLD chief Viv- ian Sabuga-a said only 10,000 of the more than 22,000 business plates have been claimed by registered businesses in the city within this year.

Sabuga-a pointed out that updated business plates are important and needs to be placed in every business establishm­ent as proof of the business’ legitimacy.

Sabuga-a reminded the businessme­n that they will have to pay the penalty worth P500 if they fail to display the business plates.

She added that the business plates are also required when they conduct inspection­s in the establishm­ents.

It can be recalled that over 17,000 establishm­ents filed for business permit renewal from January 3 to February 28, a report from the Business Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD) showed.

Sabuga-a said about 17,493 businessme­n have renewed their permits,

Under the Local Government Code, all establishm­ents are required to annually renew their registrati­on with their local government units.

The annual renewal of business registrati­on consists of payment of local business tax, mayor’s permit fee, sanitary inspection fee, garbage fee, building inspection fee, electrical inspection fee, mechanical inspection fee, plumbing inspection fee, fire inspection fee, personnel fee, business plate registrati­on fee and other charges imposed by local government units.
