The Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) has announced a 16-hour water service interruption on Thursday, August 17.

In its advisory, COWD said it would simultaneously carry out repair works in different areas in the city.

The COWD said they would conduct leakage repair and maintenance of 300mm diameter transmission line along Bitan-ag creek; repair of the raw water line of production well no.8 in Ramonal Village, Camaman-an, this city; and replacement of two inches diameter water meters inside the provincial capitol compound.

The said activities would cause temporary water service interruption to affected areas.

There will be low pressure to no water supply from 1:00 p.m. of August 17 to 5:00 a.m. of August 18.

Affected areas include Corrales Extension corner CM Recto Avenue to Mitsubishi Gusa (Left side only towards Gusa from CM Recto); From Recto Avenue corner Osmena extension to Gaabucayan road corner Osmena extension; From Gaabucayan corner Corrales Extension to Agora; From Metrobank in Recto Avenue corner Agora road to the whole area of Agora including San Lazaro, Tabacco, San Juan 1.

The entire provincial capitol compound will also experience no water supply from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.,-August 17.

Low pressure to no water will also affect the left side only of Centro Lapasan.

COWD spokesperson Ladelle Sagrado said the production well no.9 located in Macasandig has also bogged down on Monday, August 14, which affected the eastern service area.

The production well no.9 is one of the biggest discharge capacity of water supply.

“Instead nga August 1516 ang schedule atong gi-move sa 17-18 kay nag request man ang Lapasan kay mag fiesta sila. But unfortunately, nag bog down man ang production well no.9 gahapon kung asa apektado ang eastern area apil gihapon ang Lapasan, among oth- ers busa hinay ganina ang tubig,” Sagrado said.

Sagrado said the COWD has already requested for the delivery of an additional volume of 400 cubic meters per hour from Rio Verde Water Consortium, Inc. (RVWCI) to augment the supply shortfall until Saturday, August 19.

Sagrado said the repair of the production well no.9 may last until Saturday.

“Mag-open ta og valve diha sa may Carmen para ang supply sa Rio Verde mo-flow sa eastern area,” Sagrado said.

Concessionaires were advised to store enough water for their consumption ahead of the interruption period.

The COWD has assured the public that all efforts will be taken to restore normal water supply the soonest time possible.
