DOLE MisOr turns over livelihood assistance to 187 beneficiaries
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)Eastern Misamis Oriental turned-over livelihood financial assistance worth P 2,043,115.05 to some 187 beneficiaries of the province in its new location at the New Villanueva Building, Katipunan, Villanueva Misamis Oriental in July.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Atty. Ma.Gloria A. Tango who graced the event said that she was able to notice the rapid growth of the DOLE Region X and was proud of its accomplishments since it became the benchmark of other Regional Offices. She also mentioned that she is well aware that although we are within an industrial estate, the unemployment rate is still high.
Further, Tango added that the livelihood program is already of big help in the unemployment since it provides employment opportunities to the people. It is with great hope that the beneficiaries would endeavor to sustain their livelihood undertakings so that they would grow as community enterprises. She congratulated Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao and Chief Errol A. Natividad for the new office for she believes it is important to have good facilities to give comfort to the employees, as well as the clients.
Likewise, Director Suyao emphasized the importance of a healthy working environment, especially in serving and providing convenience to the clients. He stressed that livelihood programs are very beneficial in reducing unemployment. He added that the main purpose of the program is augmenting the marginalized workers’ income thereby reducing poverty in the society.
Natividad gave details on the livelihood financial assistance granted: (1) San Roque Handmade Paper Products Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) on their project on “Enhancement of Handmade Paper Production” with 35 beneficiaries; (2) Misamis Oriental Dole Phils. Labor Union-FILU on their Rice Marketing project (29 beneficiaries); (3) Salay River II Fisherfolks and Farmers (SARIFAFI)-MPC on their “Municipal Sea Fishing” project (27 beneficiaries); (4) Bal-ason Farmers Producers Cooperative on their project on Trading on Agri-Vet Supplies (38 beneficiaries); and (5) Abaca Farmers Association on their “Enhancement of ABACA Fiber Trading” (58 beneficiaries). He also said that the projects were coursed through the Accredited Co-Partner San Roque Handmade paper Products MPC. (DOLE-X)
