Large -scale devt’s to bring more jobs

-

TWO large-scale developments that would generate about 6,000 jobs will be constructed in Mandaue City, said Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.

These two companies are San Miguel Corp. and Millennium Pan-Asia Hotel and Resort, Inc..

With the construction of new businesses from these companies, the City Government is expecting to get more revenues.

“We feel very confident about these two investments, especially with the companies that are behind them. One of which is San Miguel and we anticipate this would mean very good things for the city in terms of employment generation as well as in increasing our revenues by the collection of taxes for these two new developments,” the mayor said.

Millennium will build an integrated entertainment complex that will include a casino, a shopping mall, hotels, apartments and other commercial developments.

According to the mayor, it would be similar to Mandani Bay.

In a press conference, Quisumbing told reporters that the company recently got their casino license from Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.

He said the initial budget for the construction is $300 million.

Millennium has been looking for a property, including those in the North Reclamation Area, as the possible areas for development.

With the new businesses that will rise in Mandaue City, Quisumbing said that degree holders will not the only ones that will get jobs, but also those “the poorest of the poor.”

“It’s a really exciting time for the City for these two developments. We are very happy that we are now in the final stages of completion with the signing,” he added. SunStar Philippines
