CONTACT centers will be accepting senior high school graduates who are at least 18 years old by 2018, Cebu IT-Business Process Management Organization (CIB.O) managing director announced.

To aid in this endeavor, three activities centered on recruitment have been incorporated into the Cebu Call Center Program, supported by Cebu City.

The first comes in the form of a career caravan aimed at inspiring the youth and at giving them options for a career path in the industry by inviting speakers to share their experiences in that line of work. The activity runs for two months until September, and has visited about 30 to 40 public high schools in the city so far. The activity is a collaboration with the office of Cebu City Councilor Joy Augustus Young, who is the deputy chairperson for scholarships.

The second activity involves training partnerships between the BPM companies and the schools so that companies may conduct trainings directly to where the talents are and may also be given opportunities to scout for qualified individuals they can hire.

The last is an ongoing activity that started in August 2016, where they offered the Learning English Application for Pinoys (Leap). Leap provides free 14-hour downloadable training program for schools and technical education centers.

“This activity aims to improve the oral communication skills of individuals,” said Sa-a.

“In this digital age, we should not limit our education within the four walls of the classroom. There is so much we can learn online and these are free. Let’s take advantage of these opportunities.” SunStar Philippines
