STI recently celebrated its 34th anniversary and marked its three decades by holding various activities at the Rotunda, Limketkai Center last September 8, 2017.

Friday’s event featured STI’s Talent Search 2017-Regional Cluster Competition which showcased STI’ers skills in terms of singing, dancing, and communication skills.

Participants of the various events--Battle of the Bands Competition, STI Singing idol, Hataw Sayaw and Mr and Ms. STI 2017-came from different STI branches which includes STI-Surigao, STI-Valencia, STI-Malaybalay, STI-Iligan, STI-Pagadian, STI-Dipolog and STI-Cagayan de Oro.

STI Cagayan de Oro was the host school of the activities and the events were spearheaded by STI-CDO Deputy School Administrator Mario Malferrari.

“Actually mura siya og annual showcase diri sa atung mga talents sa atong mga estudyante so basically part ni siya sa atung student development na program dili lang ingon na sa classroom lang apil sad ilang mga talents mga skills sa singing, dancing para ma expose sad siya, ma develop pod kana na part sa ila,” Malferrari said.

“Nag start ni school level, winners na na basically kay of course bawal sad sa atu-a na mag pick ta kay of course ma defeat ang purpose sa student development”, Malferrari said.

According to Malferrari, the main purpose for holding the competitions is to foster student development-- to make sure that the students develop their other skills and talents, not just focus on academic development.

“Since we’re trying to develop other talents, the skills of our students we also make sure the 4 C’s which includes there critical thinking communication skills, the character and the change depth all embedded to our students’’, Malferrari said.

“Its not just about the competition or showcase, we make sure that naa sad sila natun-an like sportsmanship, acceptance whether winner or loser diba so dili siya ingon na basta-basta lang, we make sure na there’s values makuha sa students’’, he added.
