- By Alwen Saliring

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny ‘Bambi’ Emano wants P1.9 billion for 2018 which he will submit to the Provincial Board for the start of the series of budget deliberations next month.

Emano said the health of his constituents is among his priorities next year, getting 40 percent of the budget. Infrastructure and tourism will each be given about 20 percent of the general fund.

He said he will also set aside P300,000 for the yearly barangay empowerment program, among others.

The 40 percent share for the health sector will go to the MisOr Cares which accommodates and caters to all health-related concerns of Misamis Oriental residents.

On the other hand, a few of the priorities for tourism development will be focused on the healing pool in Binuangan town and Pawikan shade in Magsaysay.

Emano said all the items in the proposed budget are specific.

“Wala mi gibutang nga lump sum meaning all items for 2018 like mga projects naa siya daan sa budget very specific and tanan is itemized sa atong budget, ”Emano said.

Emano said the proposed 2018 budget is only slightly higher than this year’s P1.8 budget.

“There will always be an increase because of the new economic activities that are happening in the province. The budget should increase every year, ”Emano said.

The governor is hopeful that the budget hearings will run smoothly and that the provincial board will

give the same cooperation they showed in the last four years.

Board member Gerardo Sabal said the proposed budget has not reached their office yet as three big departments are still finalizing their budget.

Sabal said the executive department is given until October 15 to submit the proposed budget enclosed all pertinent documents so the deliberations would run smoothly.

“Wala pa kaabot sa amo kay naa pay 2-3 departments nga nag finalized pa sa ilang budget. Nag-budget call ang mga department unya moagi pa sa local finance committee before ma-endorse sa amo ang budget,”Sabal said.

“Modagan sa P1.8 billion ang approved this year. So naay gamay nga increase kay ga-increase man ta sweldo sa mga personnel,”Sabal added.

Sabal, however, said the provincial board has been cooperative with the endeavors of the executive department to serve the people the best way possible.

“Kami sa board gilantaw nato sa unsang butang nga matabangan si Governor Emano sa panerbisyo sa lalawigan. Full support mi ana,”Sabal said.
