City Hall worker nabbed for drugs
A CITY Hall employee was arrested, following a drug buy-bust in sitio Punta, brgy. Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City, late Friday, Sept. 29.
Police identified the drug suspect as 29-year-ol Wisconsin Brazil, a resident of Barra, Macabalan who is said to be working at the city agriculture’s office for four months now.
Operatives of Police Station 2 in Cogon seized two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, weighing about .08 grams and worth around P5,000 from his possession.
Chief Inspector Harvey Abellanosa, police station 2 chief, said the suspect is a newly identified target in the illegal drug trade. “Taod-taod na siya nga ga-engage
pero karon pa na-discover,” Abellanosa said.
The station commander said they have monitored the drug activities of the suspect for a while until the operation was launched by the operatives.
The suspect is considered a ‘high value target-level one’ considering his affiliation with the local government unit. “Government employee siya four months na daw siya na-assign sa city agriculture’s office,” Abellanosa said.
The suspect will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165) particularly selling (section 5), today, October 2.
The suspect may also likely face termination from the city hall because of his alleged drug involvement.
Councilor Romeo Calizo, chairman of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), had earlier said that some 6,119 city hall employees will be tested for drug use anytime soon as the city government allocated around P1.2 million for the mandatory and an unannounced drug testing.
Calizo said refusal to undergo the drug testing is a ground for termination.
