The top official of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) yesterday, October 31, led inspection rounds to check the implementation of the security plan in cemeteries, terminals and other establishments in Cagayan de Oro City.

Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, PRO-10 regional director, inspected various public places

and looked at the effectiveness of the police’s strategies in maintaining peace and order during the holidays.

Together with other policemen, Pacleb stood and observedthe conduct of inspections among travelers in bus terminals as well as the entrances of cemeteries.

The two-hour inspection specifically focused on checking the police assistance centers, the proper uniforms of policemen, readiness to respond to incidents, and how policemen engage with the public.

Pacleb said he was satisfied with the police deployment despite constantly reminding them policemen to be vigilant amid threats of terrorism and bombing.

“We are asking the community for their cooperation and vigilance so that peace and order is maintained. Should there be suspicious personalities or items noticed, please report it to the authorities,”Pacleb said.

Other PRO-10 staff were also deployed to the different provinces and cities in the region to act as area supervisors in the observance of the All Saints and All Souls Day.

Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, PRO-10 spokesperson, said though the number of policemen has never been enough, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has deployed at least additional forces from police stations which do not have cemeteries within their jurisdictions.

Gonda said force multipliers such as security personnel from the villages and other groups have been maximized.

“Kulang man gyud na sauna pa maong gi-maximized nato ang mga force multipliers kay makatabang mana sila unya katong mga police stations nga walay sementeryo sa ilang area, gi-deploy ang uban ato sa mga areas of convergence,”Gonda said.

“Ang gituyok ni RD ang mga menteryo, terminal, simbahan ug mga establisamento and satisfied man siya busa gipa-remind lang niya ang tanan police sa tamang bihis, ilang firearms ready ba to respond kung naa daotang elemento ug kanang dili gyud magtulog-tulog,”Gonda added.

Gonda said the two policemen from police station 9 in Macasandig who were relieved after being caught sleeping inside the patrol car while on duty were already reassigned to Bukidnon.
