PDEA-10 mounts 11 ops in w weeks

The regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 10) has so far carried out 11 anti-illegal drug operations since taking the lead in the government’s war on drugs two weeks ago, data from the anti-narcotics agency show.

As of October 30, the PDEA-10 has conducted 11 drug operations---four the other week while the other seven were done last week.

“Atong niaging semana naa tay 4 ka operation unya last week 7 unya sugod napud karon nga semana,” PDEA-10 agent Ben Calibre said on Monday.

Most of the arrested drug suspects were categorized as high value targets and targetlisted personalities.

The PDEA-10 has been going after drug suspects, especially those who figured in President Rodrigo Duterte’s so-called drug list.

Calibre said they have been furnished with the copy of the President’s list and the agents are currently validating the supposed evidence against those listed.

PDEA operatives are thoroughly investigating the list through the conduct of intelligence and surveillance operations.

Over the weekend, a village councilor identified as Jojo Lapura along with his common-law wife Marivic Basalo were arrested by the PDEA agents in Poblacion, Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

Lapura allegedly is a known drug supplier and hence, a high value target in the area and in neighboring towns.

Calibre had earlier said that sufficient manpower and resources would greatly help in mounting more operations.

But he said tip offs from the community are also a big help in monitoring the activities of drug suspects so they can easily validate the report.
