4th Prince Russel Cup Footballfest Dec. 16-17
MONTECARLO Football Club is organizing the 4th edition of the Prince Russel Cup 7-A-Aside Football Festival on Dec. 16-17 at the Westridge Sports Park in Brgy. Carmen.
Tournament organizer Juliene Gerona of Montecarlo FC said that tournament will be for the Mixed 10 (Born 2007), Boys 12 (Born 2005), Boys 14 (Born 2003), Boys 17 (Born 2000), Girls 17 (Born 2000), on Dec. 16 and Ladies Open, Men’s Open, Above 35 Mixed (Born 1982) and 40 Above (Born 1977) on Dec. 17.
Registration fee is P800 for 10 Mixed and Boys 12 while for the rest, registration is pegged at P1,000. Interested teams can register with Gerona at mobile no. 09054642833.
Sponsors of the tournament are Chick’en Bab Grill, Rock and Style, SMART, Yoli Philippines, Coca Cola, Skin Regimen, and Surposa Cowboys.
Prince and Russel are the football playing younger siblings of Juliene Gerona. They both died from illnesses with Russel passing away in 2009 and Prince in 2014.
The tournament started in 2010 as the First Russel Cup Futsal Festvial at the Macasandig gym. The second was in 2013 at the Pelaez Sports Center. Last year the name Prince was added to remember Prince.
Juliene has vowed to institutionalize this tournament like the Thirsty Cup in Cebu which has been ongoing every February for more than 20 years now. (l.biantan@ gmail.com)
