Wednesday without Roxas night market
SEVERAL Roxas Night market regulars were seen loitering around the area Wednesday evening, surprised to see that their usual destination after a long grind in the office or in school was nowhere in sight.
One anxious customer was overheard saying, “Nganong wala man sila nangabri run (Why didn’t it open now).” She was obviously looking for somewhere else to eat as her favorite food stall is nowhere to be found.
The night market has everything that every street food lover craves, from grilled meats to kakanin and cold refreshments, appetizers to fruits like durians, and what have you, - all at reasonable prices.
Various necessities like headsets, chargers, cellphone accessories, slippers, shoes and other ukayukay items are also available at the night market.
Not to forget the affordable massage being offered, which was missed by another customer who hoped she could get one that night.
A City Hall source, however, assured that it was only closed Wednesday evening, November 15, because numbers of slots were repainted. “Change na kasi ng tenants, open na tonight (Thursday),” the source told SunStar Davao on Thursday, November 16.
No doubt, the Roxas Night Market, which hogged the headlines after a bomb explosion last September 2, 2016, has become a landmark destination for Dabawenyos and tourists alike. The night market fortunately recovered after that tragic incident that claimed 15 lives and wounded 69 others as it continues to make good business for the tenants.
Expect the Roxas Night Market will be back to its usual hustle and bustle when it reopens to cater to the public starting Thursday evening, November 16.
