NPA still strong, defiant
Even claiming 27 attacks in November alone across Northern Mindanao
TO show that they’re still very much ‘alive and kicking,’ the New People’s Army (NPA) has recently announced it had successively launched about 27 attacks across Northern Mindanao, even leading to the deaths of nearly 13 and the wounding of 12 others from government’s side in just the first half of November this year.
In a statement furnished to different media outlets, the NPA explained that the series of attacks have been launched to pose strong opposition to the US-Duterte regime as well as to conduct counterattacks and defense to the military operations under the ‘all out war’ and military rule in Mindanao.
In fact, it prided itself for initiating defiant actions by the
different guerilla fronts in the region that resulted to the confiscation of assorted firearms owned by the military and the police.
The armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) also claimed to be responsible for holding at least two policemen as ‘prisoners of war’ in Surigao City.
This, as the NPA revealed that three of their communist rebels were killed during the military action.
But their own tactical offensives have resulted to the confiscation of guns belonging to the state forces and inflict deaths and injuries to government soldiers and police personnel, including civilians caught up in the attack, the NPA statement said.
The NPA accused the military for its supposed unending destructive operations against the communist combatants and even during the Marawi siege.
After the war in Marawi City, the NPA said they could be the next target of the state forces as being shown in the aggressive attacks against the revolutionary movement.
The NPA also slammed the
government for hosting the gathering of world leaders during the ASEAN summit which for them will not bring growth but would rather aggravate the imposition of neoliberal policies in the country.
The Maoist guerillas said the government is opening its doors wide for imperial countries’ interest in taking the country’s abundance and natural resources, including the luring of the labor force.
