LTO reminds public of scheduled release of driver's license

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Northern Mindanao is reminding the public to visit the office on their designated date of appointment for their plastic driver’s license with five-year validity as applicants will be only be entertained by appointment.

“Para ma-inform ang mga tao na once nga nai-schedule sila, kinahanglan balik sila dinhi on their designated date kay og magadto sya sa lain nga adlaw, full na [ang slots] (To inform the public that once they already have their schedule, they need to come back to the office on their designated date because of they visit the office pass their scheduled date, the slots are already full),” Neria Megalbio, LTO Cagayan de Oro Licensing Center (CDOLC) chief, said, adding that otherwise, their slot will be given to others and they will have to reschedule again.

Megalbio said their machine, which came from Germany and was just handed to the office in November this year, can generate a maximum of 100 plastic driver’s licenses in a day, and hence, the office has allocated 50 slots for renewal and another 50 slots for backlog.

“Ang mga senior citizens, pregnant women and PWDs (persons with disabilities) naa pud mi gihatag nga slots para sa ila, so dili na sila moagi og priority number, basta pag naa sila [among] i-entertain immediately (We also have slots for senior citizens, pregnant women and PWDs. They don’t need a priority number, as soon as they’re in the office, we will immediately entertain them),” Megalbio said.

The LTO CDOLC chief added that they will not deny their services to their clients, especially those who are on schedule, even if it took until the early hours of evening.

“Dili mi molakaw kung naa pay tao, amo gyud tiwason (We will not leave the office if our clients are still there, we will finish everything),” Megalbio said.

The LTO started issuing the plastic driver’s licenses with five years validity on Tuesday, November 14.

A roll-out ceremony was conducted in the office on the same day. The event was graced by Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny ‘Bambi’ Emano, who got his renewed driver’s license with fiveyear validity.

According to the Republic Act (RA) 10930, which amends Section 23 of RA 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, any holder of a professional or nonprofessional driver’s license are entitled to a renewal of license for 10 years if their records show no violation of traffic laws, rules and regulations.
