SP OKs funds for implementation of FMR project in Brgy Balubal

-

THE implementation of more farm-to-market roads in the city is in the offing.

The City Council during its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy appropriated the amount of P3.4 million to cover the city’s 20-percent counterpart for the proposed development of Barangay Balubal to Sitio Lagilay Access Road.

The project is under the DENR-Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management Project (INREMP), a grant financing facility through the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance (DOF-MDFO).

Components of the project are the construction of a spillway crossing Agusan River, concreting of road with drainage from Purok 1 towards Spillway and the concreting of the foot trails at Sitio Lagilay.

It may be recalled that to ensure the effective implementation of the project, Mayor Oscar Moreno created the Sub-Project Management Unit, which is tasked to integrate, coordinate, facilitate, monitor and supervise the outputs of the local departments involved in the project. Mayor Moreno said the project is among the rural infrastructure facilities identified in the city’s Watershed Management Investment (WMI) Plan, which is envisioned to address watershed management issues in the city.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on finance, budget and appropriations, on public works and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Edna M. Dahino, Zaldy O. Ocon and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively.
