DAVAO CITY—The Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC) Sharks of Cagayan de Oro ruled the 2017 National Collegiate Basketball Championships 3-on-3 Mindanao Finals on Saturday at the Almendras gym here.

This, after the Sharks pulled a thrilling come-frombehind win against Southern City College of Zamboanga, 46-44 in the final.

Jeff Egan fired 26 points to star in SPC’s win, while Emmanuel Akut III contributed with 14 markers.

Christian Pagaran and Rudjud Daga also produced quality minutes on the floor for SPC’s winning cause.

The Sharks were seriously threatened earlier as the Zamboanguenos engineered a 14-6 run in the first half.

But the Sharks finally figured themselves in the second and final half as they went toe to toe with Zambo rivals in a pulsating race to the finish.

SPC had its first taste of the lead at 32-31 before Zamboanga took the lead back.

From 40-all, the Sharks took the momentum after Egan connected a freethrow for a two-point lead.

A 44-all deadlock ensued when the spirited Sharks struck hard going into the last 1:05 minute of the ballgame.

Zamboanga had the chance to steal the show twice in the lowpost area but faltered.

A steal by SPC with only 15 ticks remaining were the last straw for Zambo’s own title bid.
