Davao-HK flights eyed

-

THE City Government of Davao is now finalizing talks with Cebu Pacific for the establishment of a Davao-Hong Kong direct flight.

On the sidelines of the official lighting of Damosa Land’s Christmas decorations, committee chair on Tourism and International Relations councilor Al Ryan Alejandre told Sunstar Davao that a Davao-Hong Kong direct flight will hopefully be launched by next year.

He added what triggered the talks on international direct flight to and from Davao is the high demand of customers for it.

Currently, he said, there is really a high demand for Davao-Hong Kong to be finally established. “We’re working out for the DavaoHong Kong.

Soon, there are still other routes coming. We are just talking with the different airline companies to help us.

We are also talking with Philippine Airlines and other airlines what their plans are for Davao also,” Alejandre said.

He also said aside from flight to Hong Kong, one of the highest demand is a direct flight to Japan, which the committee also plan to lobby with the different airlines.

This year, Cebu Pacific had launched a number of direct domestic flights to and from Davao.

Just this July, the DavaoDumaguete and the DavaoTacloban were launched.

In previously published reports, Cebu Pacific Airlines corporate communications director Charo Lagamon said they target to serve 20 million passengers for 2017.

For the first quarter, they have already served 4.8 million passengers equivalent to about P6.8 billion revenue.
