The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) has been put on alert and its personnel placed on ‘standby’ mode in anticipation of any untoward incident that may arise owing to the bad weather condition.

CDRRMD officer Allan Porcadilla said the 140 personnel of CDRRMD have now reported to their post as the traditional Christian observance of ‘Simbang Gabi and Misa de Gallo” also starts today, December 16.

Porcadilla clarified that the city is no longer affected by the Tropical Depression Urduja, even as intermittent rains continues due to thunderstorms.

As its been raining this week, Porcadilla said there have been no major incidents yet being reported related to weather disturbance.

“Basically wala na man ta naapektuhan sa Urduja pero kay naa man gihapon ang thunderstorm maong nangandam gihapon ta,” Porcadilla said.

The CDRRMD has also been monitoring the water level of all rivers in the city to ensure that they could act right away when it rises.

So far, he said, water level remains normal.

“Tanan personnel on duty karon pero after sa opening sa simbang gabi hinay-hinay na pud mobalik sa normal nga schedule ilang trabaho, ”Porcadilla said.

Porcadilla reminds the public to bring umbrellas in going to the church for the ‘Simbang Gabi’ and urging them to report to authorities any suspicious activities that may cause unrest.

He also advised the public to dial emergency hotline 911 during emergency situations or 853-9393 for landline.
