Galua hospitalized
inquest dahil ayaw naming i-risk na kuhanin siya sa hospital without the discharge order ng doctor,” Devaras said.
Devaras said Galua had underwent major heart operation and physicians at the Camp Evangelista has advised to have him admitted in a private hospital.
Galua has been guarded by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and CIDG-CDOC while inside the hospital.
Devaras refused to elaborate how Galua became a person of interest in the murder case of the state-run university. Rotoras was killed by two unidentified gunmen last December 2.
He said Galua was a contractor and former faculty member of USTP’s college of architecture.
Devaras explained that a person of interest is not yet a suspect but a person subject only for interview by authorities in the hope that they could get lead to a particular incident.
“Ang person of interest ay ang taong subject for interview for the reason na baka may possibility na may kinalaman or baka makakuha tayo ng lead sa isang insidente while ang suspect, yung police naniniwala na involve ito sa isang criminal activity,” Devaras said.
Devaras said the firearms seized from Galua’s possession were already submitted to the crime laboratory for examination, to check if it matches to the slugs recovered at the scene where Rotoras was gunned down.
“Conclusive at material evidence if magmatch ang na-recover na firearms don sa slugs na nakuha sa crime scene we are hoping na mag-positive tayo,” Devaras said.
Meanwhile, in a statement released by the USTP on Wednesday, it said “The USTP community is grateful to the mayor’s office, PNP, NBI, CIDG, and all other persons and agencies who gave of their time and effort to ensure that justice for our late president, Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, will be served.”
“We thank the media and all concerned for their understanding of the necessity for prudence on the part of the community members at this time, when all answers to queries must be weighed with care, given the sensitive nature of the situation. Rest assured that, along with all those who have expressed their care and concern, the USTP community will certainly continue to seek, and not rest, until justice is served,” the statement reads.
