Galua could not be charged yet
Probers are looking into 3 more persons of interest
INVESTIGATORS have yet to establish a strong and solid evidence to link ‘persons of interest’ to the killing of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) president Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, a police official said.
The ‘Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Rotoras’ claimed they’re now at 70 percent in their probe to identify the real perpetrators.
What the SITG holds so far are circumstantial evidences which include statements and testimonies including footages of closed circuit television camera (CCTV).
SITG spokesperson Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II said investigators are also building up the connections and the kind of relationship
Rotoras and architect Rey Galua previously had.
Galua has already been tagged as one of the persons of interest in the murder of Rotoras. He was a former USTP faculty member and the architect of several buildings of the campus.
Galua was nabbed by the police for illegal possession of guns and explosives and is now placed under hospital arrest because of heart condition.
“Naa nata sa 70 percent sa investigation. We have circumstantial evidences pero dili pa enough para ma-file ang kaso,” Hortillosa said.
He said investigators are still looking for material evidence, strong enough to put both the gunmen and mastermind behind bars.
The SITG are also checking if the firearms seized at the house of Galua matches to those slugs recovered at the scene where Rotoras was deliberately killed last December 2.
Hortillosa said they are treating the investigation carefully so it will not go haywire that may result to the dismissal of the case.
“Dili nato gusto mahimong half-baked ang kaso kay basin unya ma-dismiss,” Hortillosa said.
On the other hand, the SITG did not drop the investigation of the three other persons of interest, whom they refused to identify.
Hortillosa did not confirm if Galua was the top among the four persons of interest or perhaps all of them are connected or may have known each other.
“Wala ta kabalao sa detalye if kaila ra sila or unsa ilang connection,”Hortillosa said.
