THE Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC) Sharks booked the second semifinal slot after trouncing Tagoloan Community College (TCC), 92-68 in the 2018 Gitagum Collegiate Invitational Basketball League on Saturday at Gitagum gym, Misamis Oriental.

Earlier, the Professional World Academy virtually maded it first to the semifinals after beating Xavier University (XU) Crusaders, 90-82 in a do-or-die match.

Christian Pagaran scored 14 points to lead in the scoring run for the Sharks, while Kobe Canoy and Harvey Alvarez finished 13 and 12 markers, respectively.

The Sharks of coach Rey Dangcal controlled all quarters against their last round foe TCC that was lagging by as much as 24 points in the final canto.

SPC made it second in the elimination round behind solo leader Liceo de Cagayan University of coach Boyet Noble.

Liceo now totes a clean 4-0 slate with one more game against TCC, while SPC has three wins and two losses at the hands of Liceo and XU Crusaders of coach Rocky Calingin.

PWA and Pilgrim Christian College (PCC) Voyagers have a similar 2-2 win-loss record and virtually secured semifinal slots regardless of whoever win or lose.

The Crusaders are behind at fifth with 2-3 card and may likely miss the semifinal round due to the winner-over-theother ruling as they lost to both PWA and Pilgrim.

“Mabal-an tanan ugma kinsay mosulod,” said the committee official.
