BIG JACK..

-

(Cesafi) football title once before the football varsity program was stopped when I left for abroad.

After college, he got a teaching job at Don Bosco Technology School in Labangon, Cebu city and at the same time became one of its football coach.

After teaching at DBTC for more than five years he got an offer from Bright Academy which he could not refuse. Bright Academy is one of the school for the rich kids in the city. The school wanted him to take care of their rising football program.

A disagreement with the school owners however, forced Kid to leave the school leaving him jobless for almost a year. Luckily there was Uber. While jobless ,he managed to earn for his family and keep his wife Daisy and daughter happy by earning a living through Uber.

But his football blood has always been boiling inside his veins. While driving for Uber, Kid continued to look for a school to share his talent and his knack for coaching kids. He got some part time coaching job with St. Theresa’s College and some local clubs.

Then last year he got a call that the Abba’s Orchard Montessori School Cebu. He quickly applied and is now leading the football program of the school, although he still works part time.

Unlike the Abba’s school here in Cagayan de Oro where they have two decent pitches. Abba’s Cebu only has a small pitch just good enough to play a 7-Sided match. This however does not deter the Abba’s kids its owner, school officials and teachers to embrace the beautiful game.

The school has always been regular in the local festivals and tournaments in the Queen City of the South. Now, with ‘Kid’ leading their program, the school has moved one step forward, by going out of town to participate in the Abba’s Cup Football Festival.

‘Kid’ has brought with him more than 20 footballing kids, their teachers and the soccer moms and dads.

It has been a dream job for Kid. He is only a part time coach with the school but he hopes to go full time next school year to use his Education Degree.

But as of this writing, they are on the pitch under the blistering sun enjoying the cool air of the Abba’s Orchard La Ganrja Campus on the Hills of Indahag. (l.biantan@ gmail.com)
