Mulat bares `big catch’

-

THEY’RE not just an ordinary ones, but a big catch.

“They’re one of the big drug dealers in Cagayan de Oro,” Senior Inspector Maricris Mulat tagged arrested suspects Francisco Neri and Don Claudio Absin.

The pair got busted, following the arrest of their alleged sub-dealer Estephen Nery, 22, on Saturday in brgy. Nazareth.

“Pagkadakop kang Estephen iyang gisulti nga ang iyang supplier si Francisco nga taga Macasandig (When Estephen was arrested, he told us that his supplier is Francisco),” Mulat told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

The female cop, who is chief of Cocpo’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), said Neri and Absin are getting their supply from Cebu and are keeping more than a million worth of cannabis plants or marijuana.

Seized from Nery’s possession were P36,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves and P900,000 worth from the two suppliers.

Mulat said they considered the two as high value target because of the volume of prohibited drugs they are capable

to dispose weekly, from three to five kilos of marijuana every week to mostly high school and college students in the city.

The CDEU chief said they are also monitoring another group whose source of marijuana is in Bukidnon.

“Naa ni silay grupo ug naa pud ga-finance. Pero dili lang ni sila naa pay laing grupo among gi-monitor (They have a group and financers but we are also monitoring other groups),”Mulat said.

“Sa Cebu daw ilang source ani unya kani si Neri ang gabyahe didto. Pero naa pud lain grupo nga gakuha og supply sa Bukidnon (Neri is personally travelling to Cebu to get the items. The other group that we are monitoring is getting the supply in Bukidnon) ,”she added.

Mulat said marijuana dealers in the city have a huge market of young people because it can be sold to as low as P100, much cheaper than the crystal meth.

But, she said the adverse effect of these prohibited drugs are all the same and it kills the future of the youth.

The three suspects will face drug charges today. Alwen Saliring
