- By JAIME A. FRIAS II

MISAMIS Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) and guest team Corpus Christi School (CCS) ruled the ladies and elementary boys divisions of the 8th CdeO Inter-Public School Basketball Tournament concluded here on Sunday at the Nazareth gym.

It was an all-MOGCHS final in the lady section as coach Agustin Yasay just sat down among the fans as if nothing to lose and let his lady Cavaliers and MOGCHS BBG decide for the title.

At the end, the lady Cavs captured the ladies title after beating sister team BBG,

48-29, thus giving the first ever title for Yasay and his MOGCHS cagebelles in the inter-public school tournament in five successive editions including in the Oro SPEED-backed tourney of lawyer Hilario Roy Raagas.

The Corpus Christi baby knights of coach Carlo Dagalea, on the other hand, bested fellow guest team

Xavier University Grade School (XUGS) of coach Mariano Velez, 52-44, in the elementary final.

XUGS placed second, while Bulua Central School and South City Central School settled for third and fourth, respectively.

Tournament director Raul Fuentes named Josefee Perez (Carmen NHS), Angelica Jane Somo (Indahag NHS), Princess Penalosa (MOGCHS), Rubelyn Guno (MOGCHS) and Hannah Mae Go (MOGCHS) the mythical five in ladies category.

Cheska Apag (MOGCHS) became most improved player, while Pauline Valle (MOGCHS) was the MVP of the division. Yasay was undeniably the best coach of the season.

In the elementary boys, the mythical five were Joneal Pacteres (South City Central School), Jhon Ruich Blanco (Bulua CCS), Jarl Jovan Artango (Corpus), Jessie James Tabanas (XUGS) and Christian Joseph Bustillo (Corpus).

Bustillo emerged as MVP, while Alec Jhon Solis was season’s most improved player.
