More than 9,000 jobs available in Oro Labor Day

AROUND 9,961 job opportunit­ies will be available for jobseekers of Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental during the job and business fairs on the 116th commemorat­ion of the Labor Day.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)Northern Mindanao Director Joffrey Suyao, as of Wednesday, April 18, they were able to record around 9,961 job vacancies for the job fair in Limketkai Mall Atrium, this city.

Out of the confirmed job vacancies solicited, Suyao said around 5,541 will be available for local employment from 60 participat­ing private companies, mostly from the retail sector.

Local job vacancies include: constructi­on industry from EEI Corporatio­n with 2,860 positions; Arriba Telecontac­t Inc., 303 positions; retail/services of Southern Arms Corporatio­n, 225 positions; Philippine Call Center Institute, 200 positions; services of Josepheans Proficienc­y Services, 172 positions; and among others.

DOLE-Northern Mindanao is also expecting around 2,305 job vacancies for overseas employment from seven Philippine Overseas Employment Administra­tion (POEA) accredited recruitmen­t agencies.

Majority of the overseas vacancies are on skilled workers as most of the overseas manpower services job posts are in the United Arab Emirates and middle-east countries. DOLE-Northern Mindanao added.

Apart from private companies and overseas employment, government agencies also posted job vacancies, such as the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (1,504 vacancies), Army Recruitmen­t for Mindanao, APMC, PA (550 vacancies), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (61 job postings).

“I invite our jobseekers to participat­e in the Job Fair and ready themselves with their proper business attire, bring multiple copies of resumes, school credential­s, certificat­es of employment, clearances, photos, passport (for overseas applicants), and other pertinent pre-employment documents needed by employers,” Suyao said.

A nationwide Business Fair will also be held on May 1 and 2 in the Rotunda of Limketkai Mall wherein livelihood projects within the province will be showcased.

Labor Day activities are also organized in each provinces of Northern Mindanao, such as: foot parade around Malaybalay City; Program at Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater, Malaybalay City with ceremonial turnover of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Kabuhayan grants, as well as the ceremonial turnover of school supplies to some identified child laborers from five selected school in the city.

In Misamis Occidental Province, a 6 a.m. Eucharisti­c Mass in the Holy Rosary Parish Church, Oroquieta City will be observed, followed by a Motorcade around Oroquieta City and after which a Livelihood Fair and Skills Demo will be held in ABC Gymnasium, Oroquieta City.

Also, in Iligan City, the Federation of Democratic Labor Organizati­on invited DOLE-Northern Mindanao to attend their sponsored Eucharisti­c Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral, foot parade within the city, followed by a program at the Freedom Park, City Plaza.
