Magsayo’s camp to ALA: show contract

-

THE camp of boxer Mark Magsayo insisted the his promotional contract with ALA Boxing Promotions has already expired. That is why he signed a new contract under different management.

This is contrary to the claims of ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer who said Magsayo still has a live four-year promotional contract with ALA.

“The promotional contract expired last May 25,” said Frances Arbie Magsayo, Mark’s wife in a Facebook message to Superbalita Cebu yesterday.

Frances said the new management plans on two fights in the US for her husband before he goes up the ring for a world title fight.

Earlier, Aldeguer, in his statement to the local media, called on Magsayo to honor and respect their contract.

He, however admitted that their managerial contract has already expired.

When sought to comment about the live contract, Fraces said that their legal team has asked Aldeguer to show the said contract.

“As per our legal team, they (ALA Camp) are the ones insisting that the contract hasn’t expired yet. So they should be the ones to provide it,” Frances said.

The chairman of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Baham Mitra said the records in their office shows that the contract has expired. Mitra said GAB has no idea about the promotional contract that the two camps entered into as this is not part of their requirement.

He wants the controversy to be ironed out and for both parties to come to an agreement for the betterment not just of Magsayo’s career but for the sport of boxing as well.

“We hope that both parties agree on a common ground so that Mark’s career would not be affected and boxing in general,” Mitra said. (Sun. Star Philippines)
