Senate employees cooperative to roll out modern jeepneys

-

THE Senate Employees Transport Service Cooperative (Setsco) will launch Monday, June 18, 15 modern public utility jeepneys under the government’s Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said it has approved, through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the rollout of the Setsco units.

The cooperative will roll out a total of 35 modern PUJs. The 15 units launched Monday will ply the route of StarCity/CCP to PICC, GSIS/Senate to MOA to PITX and back, according to the DOTr statement.

“Kaya naman po talaga itong gawin. Nakasuporta po tayo sa mga kooperatiba basta’t kumpleto ang mga dokumento, may maayos na ruta at kaisa natin sa pagsusulong ng PUVMP. Sila rin naman po ang makikinabang dito sa bandang huli (We have the capability to implement the program. We support the cooperatives as long as they have the documents and viable routes. In the end, they will benefit from the program),” said LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III.

Setsco, which is among three pre-selected cooperatives tapped to participate in the PUV modernization program, is composed of 22 operators.

The PUV modernization program calls for route rationalization and fleet modernization. A modern PUJ is environmentfriendly, safe, secure and convenient with Personswith-Disabilities (PWDs) passengers. (SunStar Philippines)
