FAB LAB Mindanao hailed as Editor’s Choice
AMONG the 99 makers which participated as exhibitors during the Philippines’ biggest show and tell, FAB LAB Mindanao was hailed as Editor’s Choice by the Maker Faire Manila, the highest national recognition given to a participant.
Organized by The Mind Museum, Make Magazine and 3M Philippines, the Maker Faire Manila which took place on June 23 to 24 in The Mind Museum’s Canopy Plaza in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig was a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do.
From engineers to artists, to scientists, to crafters, the Maker Faire Manila is the country’s biggest platform for innovators and makers to show hobbies, experiments, and projects.
The Northern Mindanao delegation led by FAB LAB Mindanao was composed of product development innovators from the MSU-IIT College of Engineering and Technology, College of Business Administration and Accountancy and the School of Computer Studies.
Along with innovators from Canada, Malaysia, and China, FAB LAB Mindanao Manager Assoc. Prof. Lemuel Clark Velasco together with Gideon Emmanuel Chiu, a BS Civil Engineering student from COET and Batch Dufrense of CBAA’s Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management were among the presenters during the plenary talks of Maker Faire Manila.
With financial support from the Department of Trade and Industry-Northern Mindanao and Lanao del Norte along with the aggressive move from the MSU-IIT management to mainstream innovation as part of the preparations in being a research university, FAB LAB Mindanao is among the country’s leaders in the Maker Movement which aims to uplift the innovation capacity of Filipinos.
