NOWADAYS, it is not only women who are conscious of how their face and hair look, men also take time grooming their hair and shaving their beard to look presentable.

In a progressive city like Cagayan de Oro, you can see several barber shops and salons operating with the purpose of giving men and women the hair fixing and facial they need.

So what makes Shave Bar any different?

Started in August 2017, Shave Bar is not something you can call "common" as its more on the "unique" side with the establishment not only a barber shop but also a bar at the same time.

According to JC Makapugay, one of the owners of the Shave Bar, the concept came into mind when he was getting a haircut in Manila; an idea of offering up-to-date trends to men who wanted a satisfying haircut and at the same time relaxing with a massage or by sipping their favored drink.

"We decided on a concept that can cater everyone in Mindanao who wants to be up to trend with their hair cut and can bring the quality of service that was in Manila to the Cagay anons," Makapugay said.

He added that he wanted the place to be men's "ultimate man cave."

Located at the second floor of Cagayan Town Center in Capt. Vicente Roa Street, Cagayan de Oro City, Shave Bar aims to offer "up-to-date hair style and relaxing service" to its customers.

It offers numerous hair cut services with a twist to cater to the wants of men, this includes:

The Shave Bar Special

A combination of their modern cut and signature shave in a special VIP chair paired with any drink of choice (water, coffee, iced tea, or a cold beer) together with the customer's preferred barber.

The Modern Cut

Get the signature precision cut with a relaxing hot towel treatment massage, a swift wash, finished with style.

The Black Camo

Shave Bar's service also includes coloring men's hair black to hide the greys in them.

The Clean Shave

The ultimate clean shave is achieved when the face remains perfectly smooth, with no bumps or cute after shaving. Their shave always starts with a hot damp towel and some oil to prep their customers.

The Beard Sculpting

Grooming your beard can be a pain in the butt, and everyone is familiar with failed attempts: the whack beard trim or the epic pseudo-jawline fail. But there is hope for achieving a better beard line - let the artist do the work.

According to Makapugay, when they just started their operations, there was a challenge in building up their brand and urging potential customers to visit the establishment.

"At first it was a challenge building up our brand because for some people it was confusing if it’s really a bar or a barber shop at the same time. What we did is, we really encourage everyone to try in the first time. So I passed by, when people get to try our service, the loyalty came after," Makapugay said.

"I think if we look at it in a general perspective, you see in Cagayan de Oro that we have normal barber shops. We really bank on our service to ensure that above all, our customers are able to relax, sit back and have time for themselves," he added.

Shave Bar opens from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., so you can have your hair cut and drinks even in the middle of the night!

It is a place for men who are meticulous with their looks and who needs a nice glass of beer and chill.
