Sereñas said drug operatives will be subjected to summary hearing procedure once tested positive for drug use
AROUND 1,000 antiillegal drug operatives in Northern Mindanao underwent an unannounced drug test at the police regional headquarters in Camp Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Friday, July 23.
The operatives belonging to the different drug enforcement units in the region were subjected to the surprise drug test during the anti-illegal drugs summit.
Superintendent Surki Sereñas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) the drug test was only intended for the police drug operatives.
“Those personnel who usually lead the drug raids and other anti-illegal drug operations are the ones getting tested today,” Sereñas said.
Sereñas said drug operatives will be subjected to summary hearing procedure once tested positive for drug use.
“If found guilty and
recommended for dismissal from service, the regional director either approves the recommendation or imposes lesser penalty,”he added.
Superintendent Rodolfo Hernandez, Regional Intelligence Chief, said “this is also part our continuous campaign to cleanse our rank of misfits and undesirables, particularly our anti-illegal drugs operative.”
PRO-Northern Mindanao director Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb said the summit was an opportune time to conduct surprise drug test.
“This will ensure that only those personnel whose service reputation are unsullied, those whose record are unblemished and those whose character are beyond suspicion remain in our special unit such as the Drug Enforcement Unit,”Pacleb said.
