Convergence of education and experience in hospitality

-

TOP global hotel chain Dusit Thani continues to make waves in the hospitality industry with the introduction of the first-ever Dusit Hospitality Management College (DHMC) in the Philippines, located in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

DHMC formally opens its doors this August and commits to offering an innovative and holistic educational system to all qualified students, in partnership with the worldrenowned hospitality school École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) of Switzerland. This partnership enhances the quality of the bachelor’s degree program that DHMC students will undergo, providing them opportunities to gain access to the latest studies, trends, and practices in the field of hospitality.

“As we open the Dusit Hospitality Management College in Manila, we bring Dusit brand’s credibility in putting quality and excellence in hospitality all over the world. We use this expertise to mold future hoteliers, strengthened by our partnership with École hôtelière de Lausanne,” says Lars Eltvik, Managing Director of DHMC and dusitD2 the Fort, Manila.

DHMC also incorporates a unique “education-meets-operations” approach in its bachelor’s degree program for hospitality management. This means that all student facilities and learning centers are integrated into dusit D2 the Fort, Manila hotel areas, allowing students to have relevant work experience during the course of their degree.

“We put utmost importance in preparing our students for the future. We often see college graduates who are overwhelmed by the realities of the working world, most especially in the hotel industry. We want to put an end to that by immersing our students in 12 different areas of hotel operations as early as they start their freshman year and make them undergo on-the-job trainings come their sophomore year. This way, we paint for our students a clear picture of how it is to become part of the industry in real life early on,” shares Eltvik.

After their hands-on experience in their first few years in school, DHMC students during their junior and senior years will focus on the managerial aspects of business to hone their skills on hotel management, Eltvik added.

To further inculcate the Dusit culture of passion and excellence, DHMC’s innovative pedagogy goes beyond learning within a classroom setting. DHMC provides an educational experience like no other, offering a contemporary learning environment with state-of-the-art equipment. This way, DHMC enables students to acquire extensive design thinking, creative problem solving skills, and innovative learning and takeaways.

Integrated and immersive learning centers for creative design thinking

The integrated DHMC and dusitD2 the Fort, Manila boasts of world-class facilities and amenities. It features modern facilities, function rooms, dining destinations, well-appointed guest rooms, and recreational venues including a swimming pool and fitness center.

Learning centers are set in comfortable venues like coffee shops in which homegrown coffee and drinks are made and served, to deliver a sense of true home at Dusit to all students. Further, these areas are situated adjacent to actual hotel vicinities, transforming an educational community into a fully functional environment for immersion in real-world industry experiences and hotel operations.

Vibrant international community of passionate educators and learners

As part of the rich network of EHL certified schools and schools in Dusit Hospitality Education regional network, DHMC boasts of an international roster of educators and faculty handpicked to shape and equip the next generation of hoteliers and restaurateurs in exploring the world of hospitality to their highest attainable potential.

Within this diverse community are opportunities for not only worldclass programs designed for mastery in hotel operations, but also for international interaction to empower students to become globally competitive hoteliers and culinary practitioners or entrepreneurs. This diversity also sets the stage for an intercontinental learning experience all brought closer to home.

“Multicultural blended learning sits at the heart of DHMC education. As we are committed to delivering world-class hospitality education, our system is specifically designed and executed to bring cosmopolitan individuals set to excel in their industries anywhere around the world,” says Eltvik.
