- (Alwen Saliring)

drug suspect identified as Jhonder Pajo of barangay Lumbo was killed in a shootout during a buybust operation.

Investigation showed that the suspect shot the police who acted as poseur buyer, forcing the operatives to retaliate.

The policeman was not hit while the suspect sustained five gunshot wounds on his body. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead shortly.

The PNP chief, who was in the city last Friday to award outstanding cops and police units, said the police will continue to carry out the government’s war on drugs even as President Rodrigo Duterte said that it will be “relentless and chilling”.

“Yung sinasabi na relentless and chilling it will be so. Kailan man di bumibitaw ang police sa war on drugs, ”Albayalde said.

Albayalde said police units were never given

quota in the campaign against illegal drugs.

He also clarified that there is no monetary reward for those police officers who could arrest or kill a drug suspect.

“The pressure siguro ng mga police is itong problema sa droga. Recognition in a form of a medal pag may accomplishment at walang monetary reward,”Albayalde said. The country’s top cop said the war on drugs has been gaining ground as it geared towards the desired results as evident in the reduction of crime volume across the country.

“We are on the right track at maganda ang ating momentum. One indication is improvements natin sa peace and order dahil base on statistics bumaba ang crimes volume because of our war on drugs dahil marami sa mga krimen ay drug-related,” he added.
