Village chief killed in Maramag

Police investigat­ors are tracing the identity of the gunman while looking into the possible motives on the killing of an incumbent village chief in Maramag, Bukidnon.

Mardy Torregosa, incumbent barangay captain of Kuya, Maramag town was shot dead by still unidentifi­ed assailant, early Wednesday, September 12.

The suspect on board a motorcycle fled to unknown direction after the incident while the victim was rushed to the hospital but did not get there alive.

Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) director Chief Superinten­dent Timoteo Pacleb has directed investigat­ors to “conduct exhaustive and in-depth investigat­ion and exert all efforts to shed light on the senseless killing.”

“The incident must be solved in the soonest possible time,” Pacleb said.

“We have to address it so thru proactive security measures. All unit commanders were directed to revisit their anti-crime prevention strategy and ensure that this will not happen again,” he added. (Alwen Saliring)
